A family-run bakery has hit out after 'a competitor' left a series of nasty reviews targeting the firm.
Owners of SugarFall Patisserie claim they have received a number of negative reviews on Google over the past few weeks intended to harm the business.
In a statement shared on Facebook, owners of the Byres Road outlet claim to 'have their suspicions' about who was responsible but added they didn't know what kind of person would "undertake such a detrimental action towards any business".
They added: "We have reported these reviews to the Google Support Team, and some have already been removed from our profile.
"The two remaining ones are currently under investigation."
A one-star review written on Tuesday read: "Absolutely disgusting, coffee and cakes are absolutely vile!!!
"The staff's attitude is bogging. Don’t recommend at all.
"Beware of this place. Absolutely horrific experience."
Owners of SugarFall responded: "Another fake review written by the competitor.
"Thank you for your support while we are dealing with this issue."
Another one-star review left on the same day described the bakery as "appalling" and "vile".
Both reviewers have only written a single review, for SugarFall Patisserie.
Owners of the business said: "As a small, family-owned and operated business, we take great pride in providing high-quality products with a strong focus on exceptional customer service.
"We acknowledge that we are not without flaws, and we make mistakes, but we are dedicated to learning from them.
"We also firmly believe that Glasgow has enough room for multiple patisseries, bakeries, coffee shops, and establishments offering sweet treats, all contributing to making people feel happier and better.
"Our mission is to spread the joy of indulging in a perfect cake, encourage treating oneself to small indulgences, and advocate for acts of kindness towards others.
"At SugarFall, witnessing people's happiness is our greatest joy. Therefore, during this challenging time, we kindly request your support."
They called on customers to help spread personal recommendations in a bid to undo the reputational damage caused by recent negative reviews.
They added: "In the meantime, please do not be disheartened by the appearance of one-star reviews on our profile, as they do not truly reflect who we are and what we stand for.
"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support over the past four years. Thank you for standing by us and for being a part of our SugarFall family."
