A famous Glasgow actor has joined the all-star line-up for The Wizard of Oz musical.
It has been announced today that Allan Stewart (Stones in His Pockets, Toronto; STV Hello, Good Evening, Welcome) will play the role of The Wizard in the Michael Harrison and the Really Useful Group’s production.

Running at the Kings Theatre in the city between Tuesday, July 2 and Saturday, July 7, Stewart will join Strictly star Craig Revel Horwood as The Wicked Witch of the West, Aviva Tulley (Book of Mormon) as Dorothy, Benjamin Yates (ITV’s Emmerdale; Jersey Boys, West End) as The Scarecrow, Nic Greenshields (Love Never Dies West End; Les Misérables West End) as The Cowardly Lion, Emily Bull (9 to 5, UK Tour; Matilda UK Tour) as Glinda The Good Witch and Abigail Matthews as Toto (Bleak Expectations, West End; War Horse, West End).
The show will feature songs from the original score, with additional songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Directed by Nikolai Foster (Billy Elliot The Musical, A Chorus Line) the production has been choreographed by Shay Barclay, with set design from Colin Richmond, projection design by Douglas O’Connell, costume and puppet design by Rachael Canning, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, and sound design by Adam Fisher.
Casting was chosen by Debbie O’Brien, with Elizabeth Marini taking care of wigs, hair and makeup design.
