Plans have been lodged to build 56 homes on a former sports pitch in Toryglen.
The southside development bid has sparked one objection from Asda over noise but council planners are recommending approval.
Cruden Estates Co Ltd have applied for permission to erect the homes in Prospecthill Road, which will have solar panels and heat pumps.
A design statement lodged by the developer said: “The house types are proposed to meet the requirements of the market in the area. Consisting of a mix of two bed flats and two and three bed terraced houses.
“The houses will be built to the highest standards of construction and energy efficiency using high quality materials. They will provide an attractive addition to the existing market for good quality family housing in Toryglen.
“All dwellings proposed for the site will be provided with level access to the houses and gardens. All houses will have private gardens.”
The proposed development in Prospecthill Road would be located at a site identified as open space and protected by green belt policy which would potentially be contrary to guidance according to the council.
Supermarket giant Asda has lodged an objection stating design of the site needs to take account of the noise impact.
A council report said Asda’s concerns stated: “The application site is directly adjacent to the Asda site with potential noise sources that would affect the new development including 24 hour car parking, 24 hour Petrol Filling Station (customers and tankers) and commercial developments. The Agent of Change Principle requires noise sensitive developments to take account of existing land uses in their design process. ”
Councillors are due to make a decision on the new estate at a planning applications committee next week.
Recommending approval subject to conditions, council officials said in a report that the ” proposed development complies with the relevant policies of the Development Plan. Other material considerations including the consultation responses and letters of objection have been considered, however these do not outweigh the proposal’s accordance with the Development Plan.”
