UPDATE Woman rushed to hospital after multi-car crash on motorway near Glasgow
Emergency crews are on the scene after a crash near Glasgow.
The Northbound carriageway of the M74 between junctions 6 and 7 at Ferniegair is closed as 999 crews respond to the crash.
The alarm was first raised around 3.30pm on Friday afternoon with the traffic authority warning motorists of gridlock leading up to the scene.
In a statement, Police Scotland Greater Glasgow said emergency services were dealing with the crash and advised motorists to find an alternative route.
Police are currently in attendance and managing traffic at the scene.
Officers are currently directing traffic off the carriageway via Junction 8.
One driver commented on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Literally at the Larkhall Overpass and not moved for an hour."

The Northbound carriageway is ⛔CLOSED⛔ due to a collision.
Traffic is very slow on approach.
Travel time is approx. 19 mins for Northbound traffic.
