A MAN was caught in a £500,000 cocaine handover in a supermarket car park.

Jason Hunter was snared as police watched at the Aldi store in Glasgow's Robroyston on March 17 this year.

The 28-year-old had been in an Audi before he went into a BMW parked nearby and collected a bag.

The consignment was found to be cocaine with a potential value of between £400,000 to £500,000.

Hunter told police: "I apologise. I admit my guilt."

He is now behind bars after he appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.

Hunter, of the city's Royston, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

It emerged he already had a High Court drug conviction from 2015.

Lord Colbeck remanded him in custody and deferred sentencing for reports until the New Year.

Prosecutor Neil McCulloch told how Hunter was arrested after the Metropolitan Police had been keeping tabs on a London-based crime gang.

They had information a BMW linked to the mob was travelling north and asked Police Scotland colleagues to help.

The cocaine seized had a purity of up to 66 per cent.

Hunter told officers he had been "told to come" to the car park and "collect a parcel".
