A local hairdresser has been recognised with an award at an 'acclaimed' event.
Suzie McGill, who is the artistic director at Rainbow Room International, was awarded the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year title at this year's Hairdresser’s Journal (HJ) British Hairdressing Awards.
As the director of the salon based in Uddingston, Suzie wowed judges with her incredible use of colour technique and skills and was selected as one of six finalists.
She was named the winner of the coveted prize at a glitzy event in London's Marriott Grosvenor House London on Monday evening.
Speaking about her win, Suzie said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have won the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year title at this year’s HJ British Hairdressing Awards.
"I have previously won the regional category, Scottish Hairdresser of the Year, three times at the awards, which has been amazing and I’m so honoured, and now winning the British Colour Technician of the Year is a dream come true.
"I have been working for this award for ten years so I can’t even tell you how delighted I am! Hair colour is my passion and creating the collection was such a labour of love.
"To have that recognised by such an esteemed panel of judges means the world to me.”
Since its launch in 1984, the HJ British Hairdressing Awards have celebrated some of the most talented names in the industry and entertained a 1400-strong audience with shows from sponsors Schwarzkopf Professional and a performance by an Abba tribute band.
Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the awards, said: “Almost four decades since they began, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards continue to celebrate the most exciting and creative names in our industry.
"In winning the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician category Suzie has demonstrated a creative vision and level of expertise that is jaw-dropping.
"Her work is an inspiration to us all and utterly deserving of this title.”
