A pensioner has died following a flat fire in Glasgow's West End.
We previously reported that a blaze broke out yesterday evening at Ascot Court in Anniesland.
The fire was found to be affecting a ground floor flat.
Now, the force have confirmed that a 71-year-old man has passed away at the scene.
Area Commander David Murdoch is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s local senior officer for the City of Glasgow. He said: “We were alerted at 6.21pm on Thursday, November 30 to reports of a dwelling fire on Ascot Court, Anniesland.
"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and one high reach appliance to the scene where firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a ground floor flat.
“Sadly, one male casualty passed away at the scene.
“Our thoughts are very much with his family, friends and all of those affected at this difficult time."
The service have now confirmed that a joint investigation with Police Scotland is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a fire at a property on Ascot Court, Glasgow, around 6.50pm on Thursday, November 30.
"Emergency services attended and a 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin are aware.
"A joint investigation is being carried out with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
