A bid to turn an empty office building in Glasgow into four flats has been refused.

The planning application detailing how the vacant site could be transformed into accommodation was this week rejected by the council.

In it, the applicant said the building is "one of the last few buildings around the Trongate area that has not been refurbished or restored in recent years".

On the ground floor, there are shops and the flats were proposed to be created on the first, second and third levels.

According to documents, the application was knocked back because it is not "in accordance with the Development Plan" and "there were no material considerations which outweighed the proposal's variance with it".
