Also in the city centre, on India Street, two high-quality student accommodations of 36-storeys and 10-storeys were proposed.
These would house a total of 784 pupils, as part of a new development called The Àrd.
The development will also include a variety of trees, shrubs and herbaceous planting that will achieve biodiversity net gain against current levels on a site that currently has a low habitat value.
Iain Smith, planning director of Watkin Jones, said: “This exciting development at The Àrd will regenerate a brownfield site bringing vitality to this part of the city, providing high-quality and much-needed student homes, in addition to greatly increased public realm."

While on the Southside, a building which burned down earlier this year could be knocked down.
As the Glasgow Times reported at the time, on August 17, the Carnbooth House Hotel, in Carmunnock was engulfed in flames.
Now, documents reveal the council's plan to knock down the site, parts of which, it said is in "precarious condition" after suffering "substantial damage".
Papers also state that the flames "completely destroyed the interior and roof of the property leaving only masonry walls standing".
