The opening date for an anticipated new bar has been revealed.

Henry's is the latest venue from the team behind city favourites Chinaskis and The Berkeley Suite.

Coming soon to the Southside, the new bar and restaurant will open at Abbot Street on December 29.

A further nod to cult favourite writer Charles Bukowski (whose literary alter-ego was Henry Chinaski), punters can expect the laid-back atmosphere enjoyed at Chinaskis.

Owner Fergus McVicar told the Glasgow Times: "We are excited to announce the opening of our newest venue Henry's.

"We have been looking forward to being a part of the Southside and hope to bring a little of Chinaskis to Henry's."

Glasgow Times:

The new outlet will focus on coffee during the day, creating a place where people feel like they can hang out.

In the evening, people will be able to enjoy a carefully curated wine and cocktail list with an excellent food menu to share.

Fergus added: "It's a place for people to enjoy a glass of wine and a couple of plates with friends."

The new bar also has a heated secret garden space out the back, a hand-built sound system by Glasgow-based company We Enjoy Sound and antique lighting from the Paul Bert market in Paris.

Fergus said: "The artwork has been selected from works we've collected over the years."

Henry's will be open at 5 Abbot Street, 10am to 12am from December 29.
