A Glasgow mum has spoken of how her new baby daughter is the "best present" she could ask for after her Christmas Day birth.
Mum of now two, Ginika Ezechukwu, gave birth to her little girl, Chizaram Ezenwa at 6.35am on December 25, 2023.
The little bundle of joy weighed around 8lb and 2oz and was described as a "special present" by her mum.
Ginika had originally expected to be giving birth on Friday, December 22 after she had thought she had gone into labour.
However, it turned out to be a false alarm and despite doctors asking her if she wanted to bring forward the birth, the Springburn mum said she wanted her baby to decide when to be born.
The 29-year-old said: "It is one of the best presents I could ask for, it is really special to me.
"It is the first Christmas baby in our family."
Baby Chizaram will now join her older brother in the family as both parents look to celebrate the occasion after they leave the hospital.
Ginika thanked all the staff at the Princess Royal Maternity for their support.
Meanwhile, across the city at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, new dad, Jordan Hamill and mum, Lauren Haddock, welcomed into the world their baby boy, Finley Hamill at 12.33am on Christmas Day.
Little Finley weighed 7lb and 8oz and brought instant joy to his new family, who stay in Airdrie.
Little Finley was not due to be born until after the new year, however, with him eager to meet his new parents he surprised his mum and dad on Christmas Day.
The new dad said: " I am thrilled to have him and it is such a special occasion.
"The staff around us were exceptional as it did come as a surprise.
"I have to commend them for looking after Lauren, but also helping me when they saw I was going off track.
"They were just terrific; thanks so much to them, and to the support network of both of our families.
"This is our Christmas and now we are looking forward to cracking on with the rest of the year as a family."
