Cycle storage for 40 bikes is to be built in the Possilpark area if plans get the go-ahead.
Queens Cross Housing Association has applied for planning permission to erect the structure at a site on Wester Common Road in the city.
It is hoped it will be ready by summer 2024 after residents voiced a need for a safe place to keep bikes.
A spokesman from Queens Cross Housing Association said: “Residents in Westercommon have told us through surveys and general feedback that finding space to store bicycles can be a challenge. Through funding from Cycling Scotland, we’re delighted to progress plans to install a new secure cycle store in the area.
“This will help residents living in maisonette and multi-storey homes keep and store their bikes in a covered, safe place and will be located in a central location convenient for cycle owners.
“We aim to have this new facility in place by summer 2024.”
The storage unit is to have two levels and be located on a grass area on green space north of 151 Wester Common Drive according to the planning application.
Leftover soil from the construction dig would be used to create a mound for children to play on.
The planning application said there would be “40 cycle spaces set within a secure enclosure with direct accessible access to the existing civic paved area.”
It added how there is to be “excavation of grass area with spoil placement on adjacent green space to form a sinuous mound that can be used for play activity.”
The bid is to be considered by Glasgow City Council.
Nearby Saracen Street and Possil Road are in line for cycle lane additions.
The council have a plan to install cycle paths near to homes throughout the whole city, which it is hoped will encourage people to travel by two wheels more.
