A major Glasgow shopping centre has raised a staggering amount of cash for charity.

The funds were raised through various activities held in the shopping centre such as musical performances by school choirs and local singing groups, and via the charity's Christmas pop-up shop, which was based in the centre.
Kirsten Watson, chief executive of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: "We are truly overwhelmed by the incredible generosity shown by Buchanan Galleries. This amazing total is a testament to the unwavering support of Buchanan Galleries, whose commitment to our cause over the last decade has made a significant impact on the lives of the children and families in hospital.
“I also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everybody who purchased or donated over the festive period, contributing to this incredible achievement. This support enables us to continue our vital work, giving young patients and families the extra special care they deserve."
Kathy Murdoch, centre manager at Buchanan Galleries, added: “Shoppers and visitors at Buchanan Galleries have once again displayed the incredible warmth and generosity that define the spirit of Glasgow. By breaking records and raising an unprecedented amount for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity during the season of giving, they have truly exemplified the city’s compassionate nature.
“As a shopping centre, we are committed to making a positive impact on the community we serve and take pride in being able to support such wonderful causes and charities, including Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. We look forward to hosting more fundraising events and activities within Buchanan Galleries in 2024.”
