A huge restaurant firm was denied permission to turn a vacant Glasgow unit into a new restaurant.

As the Glasgow Times reported in November, DRG submitted the bid to take over the 124-126 Byres Road site.

The hospitality firm operates over 20 restaurants across Scotland and in Newcastle, including Di Maggio's, Cafe Andaluz, and Barolo,

They also operate plush city centre restaurants Amarone, Atlantic Brasserie, The Citizen Bar & Dining Rooms and The Anchor Line.

Now, the council's planning committee has refused their application.

In the document, officers said the restaurant "would result in an unacceptable adverse impact on the amenity of neighbouring residential properties".

It also stated that the plan "would detract from the vitality and viability of the major town centre".
