Train services to and from Glasgow Central are facing disruption due to a suspected power fault.

ScotRail services travelling through Glasgow Central Low Level have been hit with delays and cancellations as Network Rail deals with issues in two locations.

Network Rail apologised for the disruption and said they had narrowed down the problem to a signal failure between Dalmarnock and Bridgeton.

They previously identified a fault with the signalling system between Rutherglen and Finnieston.

The issue was first reported around 7.40am on Friday and engineers are understood to be en route to the scene.

Those travelling from Rutherglen to Glasgow city centre will face delays and cancellations.

ScotRail also said services between Cumbernauld and Dalmuir via Motherwell, services between Dalmuir and Whifflet, and services between Motherwell and Dalmuir will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We have received reports that there's a fault with the signalling system between Rutherglen and Finneston.

"This affects trains that run via Glasgow Central low level. Engineers have been dispatched and will be on site shortly."

A ScotRail spokesperson added: "Network Rail is currently investigating a signalling fault that's affecting services running through Glasgow Central Low Level.

"Services may be cancelled, delayed or revised."
