The Emma Caldwell murder trial did not go ahead on Friday as the alleged killer took ill.
Evidence had been due to resume at the case at the High Court in Glasgow.
Iain Packer faces a total of 46 charges involving multiple women and includes the murder of 27-year-old Miss Caldwell at Limefield Woods in Biggar, South Lanarkshire on April 5 2005.
The 51-year-old was not in the dock to hear further evidence.
Lord Beckett told jurors: "We have a problem. Mr Packer has been taken quite significantly unwell.
"He is not in a fit state to be in court. It sounds like it might be a situation that may resolve itself by Monday."
The judge said otherwise the trial - scheduled to last at least six weeks - had been making "rapid progress" so far.
Packer denies the accusations and the trial is expected to resume next week.
