Several railway routes across Glasgow and Scotland will remain closed this morning after Storm Isha battered the country.

ScotRail has said that many services will not run due to the "extraordinary" damage that has been caused to the railways.

Routes that will not operate this morning (Tuesday, January 23) include:

  • The East Kilbride line.
  • The Cathcart Circle/ Neilston/ Newton Line.
  • The Glasgow Queen Street/ Falkirk Grahamston via Cumbernauld line.
  • The Helensburgh/ Hyndland line.
  • The Bathgate to Airdrie line.
  • The Motherwell to Whifflet line

Other routes that will remain closed include the Wick line, the Gourock line, the Wemyss Bay line, the Pitlochry to Perth line, the Stirling to Perth route, and the Dumfries to Kilmarnock line.

We previously reported that the rail operator also announced rush hour services across Scotland will be suspended on Wednesday morning (January 24) as Storm Jocelyn hits the country.

On top of that, all services won't be in operation after 7pm tonight either.

In a social media post this morning, ScotRail said: "Storm Isha has caused extraordinary ongoing damage to the railway.

"Several lines remain closed this morning pending line safety checks/repairs following Storm Isha.

"All services will be suspended from 7pm tonight and there'll be no rush hour services on Wednesday morning, as the extreme weather from Storm Jocelyn arrives.

"Any trains departing prior to 7pm will complete their journey, but no services will run after that time."
