The Emma Caldwell murder trial was adjourned again after the suspect accused of killing her fell ill for a second time.
Evidence was due to resume on Tuesday in the third week of the case at the High Court in Glasgow.
But, jurors returned to find Iain Packer, 51, was not in the dock.
Lord Beckett told them: "Mr Packer, overnight, has taken quite significantly unwell and is not fit, so it is not possible for the trial to proceed."
The judge said it was hoped Packer would be back in court by Wednesday. Packer had previously fell ill last week causing the case to be adjourned then.
He denies a total of 46 charges involving multiple women and includes the murder of 27-year-old Miss Caldwell at Limefield Woods in Biggar, South Lanarkshire on April 5 2005.
Lord Beckett told the jury that a proposed site visit to the woods has now been delayed to later this week due to bad weather forecast for Wednesday.
He also added unless something "extraordinarily wrong" happens then it appears the trial will be completed in the month of February rather than earlier estimates of it stretching into March, possibly April.
The trial continues.
