A family-run Glasgow restaurant is closing after 25 years.
The team at Italian eatery Gia's made the heartbreaking announcement on Sunday that they would be closing down.
Founded as Trattoria Gia by husband and wife duo Daniele and Theresa Giannoni in the Merchant City, the restaurant has brought authentic Italian cuisine to Glasgow since 1999.
The restaurant moved to Shettleston Road in the East End in 2019.
Staff did not state a reason for the closure, but thanked all of their loyal, dedicated customers for their support over the years.
A spokesperson said: "It’s with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close down Gia's.
"We want to thank every one of our loyal and friendly customers for your support over the years and especially the last few months as our family has went through a very difficult time.
"We would like to ask that anyone who has purchased gift vouchers to get in touch and we will get these reimbursed to you as soon as possible.
"Thanks again from everyone at Cafe Gia."
Punters flocked to the comments to share their disappointment.
One person wrote: "So sorry to hear this sad news. We were regulars at the old Trattoria Gia in the city centre too, and have many happy memories of celebrations overseen by Theresa. It's the end of an era, but one we won't forget. Best wishes to everyone for the future."
Another added: "So sorry to hear this, loved having a wee dinner here all staff were so lovely restaurant was great. Thank you for the few years you were there we wish you all the the best for the future."
A third lamented: "So sorry to see this beautiful restaurant close. I will really miss it, I loved this wee place.
"Best of luck for whatever the future holds."
