A Glasgow school's dance programme received a donation of £2,500 from Possilpark-based Allied Vehicles.

Smithycroft Secondary School, located in Riddrie, provides children from areas that face high levels of deprivation with a wide range of sports and extracurricular activities.

Paige Dougan, PE and dance teacher at the school, said: "As a school we try our best to offer our students lots of opportunities they otherwise may never have.

"The contribution from the Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust will allow these young people to display their talents and have unforgettable experiences while building their confidence and enhancing their future, without placing additional financial pressure on parents and carers."

The school's aim is to break down barriers for learners, showing them that there are no limits to their success.

Smithycroft's dance troupe is already making a name for themselves with their recent success include securing a spot to perform at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow Go Dance event in 2024.

They are also preparing to compete in two events in February which are the Scottish Schools Cheerleading Competition and Glasgow's City of Dance competition.

These experiences will allow their students to perform on a professional platform while gaining confidence and essential life experiences.
