A new Glasgow restaurant is giving customers free pasta and pizza to celebrate its opening.
Assaggini officially opened its doors on Thursday in the city's West End, in the space on Byres Road formerly occupied by Mozza pizzeria.
Italian food lovers in Glasgow are in for a treat as they can get their hands on the free offer, which will be given to the first 200 customers in the door today (February 15) and tomorrow (February 16).
As we reported from our first look, Assaggini specialises in fresh pasta, gourmet ‘Pinsa’ style pizzas and artisan craft beers offering a contemporary twist on traditional Italian dining with a focus on sharing.
Highlights of the menu include fresh paccheri gamberi e limone, bucatini amatriciana, cacio e pepe and reginette lamb ragu.
The Pinsa-style pizzas are smaller in size and inspired by the different Italian regions with a variety of toppings including fresh Fior di Latte mozzarella, datterini tomatoes and Sardinian sausage.
General manager Neil Johnstone said: “We have had an extremely promising opening here at Assaggini and locals have been incredibly supportive of the restaurant.
"We wanted to give something back and thought, what could be better than the chance to come and try our delicious freshly made pasta and pizzas for free.
"We’re anticipating big queues on both days, so customers should come early to take advantage!"
The offer will run each day from 12pm until stock runs out. Dishes are available as part of the offer are limited and customers will be entitled to one meal per person.
