A MAN threw a traffic cone to provoke a pair after an early morning fight.

Ryan Perrie, 31, was walking on Renfield Street around 3.45am on June 20, 2023, when he met two men and an argument took place.

He made gestures at the duo and they reacted. A fight broke out between the three of them.

After the brawl, the two men walked away.

But Perrie, of Rutherglen, continued to provoke them and took his t-shirt off.

He lifted a traffic cone and threw it in their direction.

At this time, the police were called.

The men turned to Bath Lane. Police spoke to them and were given a description of Perrie, who they found.

He was cautioned and charged.

Perrie appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after he pleaded guilty to fighting and having an offensive weapon, the cone.

He also admitted to throwing it.

His lawyer said: "His memory is that he talked to a group of chaps. They then ran off.

"He has issues with alcohol and a relapse occurred around this time.

"He was meeting friends in the afternoon. It was a significant amount of hours of drinking.

"He does accept that he could go to jail.

"He and his partner are expecting their second child."

Sheriff Joan Kerr addressed Perrie: "This didn’t look to be a particularly serious offence but in light of your record and narration, it is.

"Young men fighting, being aggressive and taking their tops off in the early morning hours in the city centre, it should not be happening.

"I could easily send you to prison, however, I am going to give you what might be your last chance."

The case was adjourned for an alcohol court assessment.
