A Domino's Pizza restaurant near Glasgow has won a huge award in a UK-wide competition.
Abbie Thompson, who is the store manager at Domino's in Hamilton, was crowned the fastest pizza maker at the Fastest Pizza Maker Competition.
Held annually by the pizza firm since 1982, the event sees contestants from Domino's franchises all over the country compete to assemble three perfect pizzas in the least amount of time.
Judges look not only at the speed of the process but the quality and precision employed - if a pepperoni slice is out of place or the dough hasn't been stretched, then participants are penalised.
Abbie beat over 327 others with an impressive time of 1 minute and 12 seconds, with zero penalties, making her the second female winner in the entire history of the competition.
Abbie said: “I’m thrilled to have won the fastest pizza maker competition. I have worked for Domino’s for seven years, and this is one of my proudest moments.
"Joana Mendes, last year’s winner, really inspired me as the first female champion. I’m so happy to have made my Domino’s team proud, and to come home with the award is just fantastic.”
Abbie will be joined by other members of the UK top 5 fastest pizza makers to take part in the world championships in Las Vegas in May.
