A 'heavy police' presence was spotted on a major road in Glasgow.

Officers say they were called to Duke Street in the city's East End shortly after 11pm on Wednesday, February 28, after receiving a report of a serious assault.

999 crews then raced to the scene and a 27-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after the horror attack.

Luckily, the man's injuries are not 'life-threatening', the force has revealed.

According to reports on social media, there was a 'heavy police' presence in the area during the incident.

On top of that, locals claimed part of the area was also 'taped off' by officers.

Now, cops have revealed an investigation into the shocking assault is underway.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 11.25pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, police were called to the Duke Street area of Glasgow, following the serious assault of a 27-year-old man.

“The man was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
