An update has been provided after police were spotted on a major road in Glasgow this morning.
We previously reported that officers were pictured on Saltmarket in the city at around 10.50am on Saturday, March 2.
Two police vans were parked outside a property on the busy street, while officers were seen in the area.
Now, Police Scotland has revealed the activity was in relation to a search for missing man Nigel Hooton.
Cops were pictured wearing PPE clothing as part of the search.
The 57-year-old, who also goes by the name of Jonathan ‘Jono’ Steele, was last seen around 7.50am on Wednesday, February 14 and is believed to have travelled to Edinburgh.
Hooton was seen in the Hanover Street area of Edinburgh and was reported missing on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
He is described as around 6 feet 2 inches, of slim build with grey/white hair and a grey beard. He speaks with an English accent.
He may be wearing a dark-coloured waterproof jacket, and dark blue jeans and carrying a dark-coloured rucksack with a sleeping bag and mat.
Nigel has connections in the Saltmarket area of Glasgow.
