Cops are set to carry out 'stranger danger' training after a masked man approached two young girls outside a Glasgow school.
We previously reported that a stranger wearing a balaclava approached the pair outside school gates and asked them to take his hand.
The St Bernard's Primary pupils were outside the entrance on Seamill Street, Nitshill, when the alarming incident took place on Wednesday, March 6.
Shortly before 9am, the youngsters, who were heading to school, were stopped by the man, who was dressed in all black.
He is said to have asked them to take his hand, and when they said no, he told them he'd be back at 3pm - when school finishes.
Now, city cops are set to attend the school on Tuesday, March 12, to inform the pupils about 'stranger danger', according to a letter sent to parents from headteacher Elaine MacEachen of the school.
On top of that, there will also be an increased police presence within the local area, while an investigation has also been launched.
Following the shocking incident, Glasgow City Council has said the safety of the children at the school is their 'primary focus'.
The letter to parents from the headteacher said: “Police Scotland have been contacted by the school alerting them to an incident that happened yesterday morning (Wednesday, March 6).
“Two of our pupils were approached on Pinmore Street by an unknown male, wearing dark clothing/hat.
“The police are taking the incident seriously and as a result will be in attendance at our school gates and there will be an increased presence within the local area.
“It is important that we all continue to be vigilant in the school community but remain calm while we let the police do their job.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. We have also alerted all local schools.
“Our community police officers will be coming into school on Tuesday afternoon to speak to our children about ‘stranger danger’. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any further concerns.”
Inspector Jamie McFarlane, Pollock Police Office, said: “We received a report of a man approaching two children on Seamill Street in Glasgow around 8.55am on Wednesday, 6 March, 2024.
“While this incident is not being treated as an attempted abduction, enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.
“We are working with local schools to provide reassurance and officers are carrying out additional patrols in the area. I’d urge anyone with concerns to speak to them.”
