Thousands of pounds have been raised after a Rangers fan died in Lisbon last week. 

The Glasgow Times previously reported that Thomas McAllister, 25, passed away following the Glasgow club's UEFA Europa League tie with Portuguese giants, Benfica. 

Rangers FC confirmed the tragic news on March 8 as dozens of tributes quickly poured in for the Drumchapel dad, including kind words from family, friends, Philippe Clement, Michael Beale and Callum Beattie. 

Now, a fundraiser has been launched on Just Giving following Thomas' death. 

The creator of the fundraiser wrote: "No one should go to away game and not come home.

"Thomas' death has affected and touched so many people and the messages and support have been absolutely unbelievable..

"Keep sharing far and wide and thanks again for your continued support." 

Over £19,000 has been raised so far. 

One donator commented: "RIP young bear. 56 is coming for you."

While another said: "Condolences to all family and friends. RIP Thomas."

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office told the Glasgow Times that they are offering assistance in the matter and are in contact with Portuguese authorities.

A FCDO Spokesperson said: “We are providing consular assistance to the family of a British man who has died in Lisbon, and are in contact with Portuguese authorities."

Thomas' official cause of death has not been revealed.
