First Bus will be providing free travel to and from shows during the Glasgow International Comedy Festival (GICF).
GICF starts on Wednesday, March 13, and will run until March 31 at various venues across the city
To officially launch the partnership for the 2024 festival, four acts performing at this year’s festival – Billy Kirkwood, Amelia Bayler, Kate Hammer and two of the ICW: The Great Glesga’ Bash team - hopped on a First Bus and travelled around the city giving away free tickets to passers-by, bringing a smile to faces and brightening up their day
Graeme Macfarlan, commercial director for First Bus Scotland, said: "We are delighted to be playing our role in continuing to help make our city’s celebrated comedy festival more affordable and accessible for everyone.
"Our partnership with the festival helps us to reach a wider audience, further encouraging people to choose public transport as their preferred method of travel."
Festival-goers can take advantage of the free commute offer by keying in the promo code they receive from GICF via email into the app.
A free day ticket valid for use during the festival will be issued.
The 2024 GICF will see international comedians and budding Scottish talents put on performances across 50 venues.
Some of the comics who will perform include Frank Skinner, Ed Gamble, Fascinating Aïda, Kieran Hodgson, All Killa No Filla, alongside homegrown talents like Susie McCabe, Craig Hill and Mark Nelson, and international acts including Caroline Rhea and Leslie Liao.
Krista MacDonald, festival director, said: "We're delighted to partner with First Bus once more to offer free travel for comedy fans this month as we get set to welcome a host of international and local comedians to the city for 2024's Festival.
"We hope the First Bus offer will make it a little easier for festival fans to attend shows across the city and enjoy some top-tier comedy, whilst reducing their environmental impact.
"With over 560 shows and 50 venues to choose from at this year's Festival, there's plenty to see."
