Exciting plans have been revealed to transform a famous Glasgow chippy spot after 100 years.
Preparations are underway to open The Old Fish Bar at an empty unit at 74 Cousltonholm Road in the city's Shawlands.
But instead of serving up fish and chips, the new venture is described as a cocktail, wine and tapas bar.
The team has teased the new arrival on social media, saying they plan to open in April 2024.
The spot used to be the home of That's Fritto and, more famously, Guido's which closed in September 2022 amid the cost-of-living crisis.
The location of 74 Coulstonholm Road has been trading as a fish and chips shop for over 100 years, according to the real estate listing posted by Smith & Clough after Guido's closed.
The owner of Guido’s Fish and Chips previously told The Glasgow Times: “Unfortunately, due to the high rise of bills and high rent we weren’t able to keep up with our costs.
“And we couldn’t ask people for more money regarding the prices so we decided to just give it up, as it wasn’t busy enough.
“We don’t really want to make a big deal, everyone is going through difficult times.
“It’s not been the best past two years.”
He added: “Customers have been nothing but good to us but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for us.
“There’s not much to say, just a massive thanks to our customers and appreciate the support they have given to us.”
