An appeal has been launched after a chicken was found abandoned in a cardboard box near Glasgow.
The Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) say the animal was found at the Queenzieburn Industrial Estate in Kilsyth at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, March 12.
Now, the animal charity is looking for information surrounding the forgotten chicken.
Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer, Eilidh Hoehle, said: “This very friendly chicken was found abandoned and taped up in a cardboard box.
“She looks in good condition and appears to have been looked after.
“We appreciate that whoever left this chicken may have intended for her to be found but this is not the correct way to give up a pet if you can no longer care for them.
“The chicken is now being cared for at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.
“If anyone recognises this chicken or has any information surrounding her circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
