FIRST Bus has revealed a major update on ticket prices for Glasgow services.
The travel company announced it is "freezing the price" on the majority of its tickets following its annual fare review.
The firm has said for customers purchasing tickets through First Glasgow's Tap On, Tap Off payment method, ticket prices will remain at current rates – including Single Day and Week tickets.
Meanwhile, on-board or on-app purchased Two-Trip, Day Ticket Bundle, Week and Four-Week tickets will also remain the same price.
However, single, day and month-plus tickets bought on a bus or via the First Bus app will see a below-cost price inflation increase by three per cent from March 31.
According to the company, these changes mean customers who typically purchase Single or Day tickets can switch to Tap On, Tap Off as their payment method, and will therefore not see an increase in their ticket price.
The news comes as the transport provider continues to invest in its customers and services – adding more vehicles to the road to meet demand.
The changes will come into effect from Sunday, March 31.
Duncan Cameron, managing director of First Bus Scotland, said: “The updates to our ticketing structure are essential to allow us to continue to deliver and grow our services across the city.
"Despite facing significant cost increases across our operations, we have worked hard to freeze a significant number of ticket products to ensure we continue to attract more customers to using our services.
“We know there will be significant increases in fares across alternative modes of public transport so being able to freeze so many of our popular ticketing options, at their current prices, shows our commitment to our customers to provide them with one of the cheapest, most convenient and sustainable ways of travelling around Glasgow.”
