Two people have been rushed to hospital after an incident on a major Glasgow road.

We previously reported Glasgow City Council said the Clydeside Expressway was closed to all westbound traffic at the A739 flyover near the Clyde Tunnel due to a serious road traffic accident shortly after 10.30am on Thursday, April 4.

After being made aware of the smash, the Scottish Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a paramedic response unit, and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

Following that, two people were taken to hospital for treatment.

As well as ambulance crews, firefighters also attended the incident.

However, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service says they 'were not required at the incident'.

During the crash, First Glasgow said several of its services were being diverted due to it.

Glasgow City Council has said the road reopened shortly after 12.45pm.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.30am to attend a road traffic collision on the A814 Eastbound, Clyde Tunnel.

"An ambulance, paramedic response unit and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene, and two patients were transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to assist emergency service partners at a road traffic accident on the Clydeside Expressway, Partick at 10.18am on Thursday, April 4.

"Operations control mobilised four appliances to the area.

"Crews were not required at the incident and left at 10.32am."

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
