East Dunbartonshire Council will decide whether to allow a cafe in Milngavie to be replaced with flats.
The council has received a planning application concerning the current Bullands Coffee House in Mugdock Road, proposing that three flats and a courtyard garden be created at this location.
Documents accompanying the application explain that the cafe has been in operation for many years but the building is old and in poor condition, and it is also expensive to operate the business due to poor insulation leading to high energy costs.
Additionally, a proposal to develop a replacement for the coffee house on a site across the road from its current location has already been granted planning permission.
The new homes would be designed to Passive House standards to ensure the lowest possible running costs and maintenance, with quality construction materials also requiring minimal maintenance.
