A youth has been charged after an 'incident' in Cambuslang.

Police say they were called to the wooded area near Birch Drive in the town following reports of alleged youth disorder recently.

The force revealed they were made aware of 'anti-social behaviour and fire-raising'.

After attending the incident, cops say one youth was returned home and charged in the presence of their parents.

Meanwhile, the fire service extinguished the blaze.

Now, police have warned of the potential impact of 'deliberate fires' - saying that they can 'endanger lives and harm communities'.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland Lanarkshire said: "Anti-social behaviour and fire-raising in Cambuslang.

"Officers attended the wooded area near to Birch Drive, Cambuslang, following reports of youth disorder.

"Results:

  • One youth returned home and charged in the presence of parents
  • Fire service attended and extinguished fire.

"Deliberate fires can endanger lives and harm communities.

"It's important to take steps to prevent them in your area and keep everyone safe."
