He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court in front of Sheriff Simone Sweeney after he pleaded guilty to driving the vehicle with 6.7 microgrammes of drugs in one litre of his blood.
He also admitted driving under the influence in December 2022.
His lawyer said: "You can see his reasons in the reports, my lady, they are not justifications but at least they offer some explanation.
"He knows he will disqualified. He appears eligible for alternatives to custody.
"He is in a position to work for BT, however, this is not set in stone yet.
"I suggest a restriction of liberty order but he would be willing to complete any orders."
Kinnaird was disqualified from driving for three years and four months.
He was also tagged for 108 days, requiring him to stay indoors between 7pm and 6am.
