A manhunt has been launched following a fire at a building site last night.
The incident, which involved an eight tonne digger and a 14 tonne excavator being set on fire, took place at a site on Strathaven Road in Hamilton at around 11.30pm.
The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Services and no one was injured.
Now, officers are appealing for information and for any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Stuart Adams said: “We are treating this as wilful fire-raising and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that could assist with our investigation is asked to get in touch.”
