Jobs have been lost as a Glasgow firm has gone into administration after more than 40 years.

Administrators have been appointed to Ritchies HGV Training Centre Ltd as of May 28, 2024.

Founded in 1983, the company specialises in training HGV drivers for the haulage industry and construction plant and forklift operators.

Their centre is based in the city's Springburn and they serve private clients, district councils and utility companies.

Michelle Elliot and Callum Carmichael of specialist business advisory firm FRP are acting as joint administrators.

A total of 36 people have been made redundant while administrators explore the potential sale of the business and assets, including vehicles, plant machinery and the site itself.

Joint Administrator and partner at FRP, Michelle Elliot, said: “Ritchies HGV Training Centre Limited was founded more than 40 years ago after the owner decided to use his own driving experience to train others.

"Unfortunately, due to the ongoing downturn of the construction sector and struggling to recover post-pandemic, the Company was no longer able to meet its financial obligations.

"After the directors exhausted all other options, they took the difficult decision to put the company into administration.

"We’re now focused on helping impacted staff access support from the Redundancy Payments Service and are working with support agencies such as PACE while we market the assets of the business for sale.”
