A Hamilton charity has received essential donations which will help them provide for vulnerable people.

Hamilton Churches drop-in centre received £100 worth of supplies thanks to the council’s community wish list. 

The wish was granted by McConechy’s Tyres who donated the items to the charity.

Reverend Malcolm James Anderson said: “On behalf of the trustees of our charity Hamilton Churches drop-in centre, the generosity provided by McConechy’s Tyres will continue to help feed and nourish those struggling with the cost of living crisis.

“It was once said, ‘no-one ever became poor by giving’.

“Many will be enriched by the kindness of others.”

A spokesperson for McConechy’s Tyres said: “We are aware of our responsibilities and commitments to the local communities we serve. We embrace the opportunities we can provide and making donations such as this is so worthy.  

“The work Malcolm and all the volunteers do is both inspiring and remarkable.” 

The council’s community wish list allows local organisations and charities to request much-needed items or cash, local and national companies often respond to the wishes and offer help to the groups.

The scheme is supported by the council’s community engagement team.

Chair of the finance and corporate resources committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald (Larkhall) said: “This is another great example of the CWL and the unique and individual benefits it can bring to local communities and organisations.”
