Four people were 'thrown' from a motor after a horror crash in East Kilbride.

999 crews raced to Crookedshields Road in the town shortly before 9pm on Sunday, June 2, after being made aware of the smash.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service says they were called to a road traffic collision in the area.

In total, two fire trucks were sent to the scene where firefighters discovered that a car had hit a tree.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Ambulance Service says they sent 'multiple resources' to the crash.

According to the fire service, four people were 'thrown' from the vehicle after it crashed, while one person remained trapped inside it.

However, crews safely removed the trapped casualty before they were taken to hospital by Air Ambulance.

The other four casualties were passed into the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 8.56pm on Sunday, June 2 to reports of a road traffic collision on Crookedshields Road in East Kilbride.

“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters found that a car had collided with a tree.  Four casualties had been thrown from the vehicle, whilst one person remained trapped.

“Firefighters removed the trapped casualty from the vehicle, and they were transferred to hospital by Air Ambulance. 

"The remaining four casualties were passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 8.52pm on Sunday to attend an incident on Crookedshields Road.

"We dispatched a number of resources to the scene and transported four patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and one patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
