A football team has paid tribute to a 16-year-old boy who died after an 'incident' in Glasgow.

Kory McCrimmon passed away in hospital after allegedly being seriously injured during a disturbance in the Cranhill area of the city.

999 crews rushed to Greenfield Park in Eskbank Street shortly after 8pm on Friday, May 31, after being made aware of the incident.

Sadly, the youngster was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Sunday, June 2.

Following his death, his former football team - Easterhouse Football Academy - has paid tribute to the teen.

Taking to social media, the club said the news was 'heartbreaking' and 'unthinkable'.

In a touching tribute to the young lad, the club said: "Can't believe we are writing this.

"Today (Sunday, June 2) our former player Kory passed away after an incident on Friday night.

"A 16-year-old kid that played for our 2008 age group only a few months ago.

"Heartbreaking. Football brings people together and forms teammates and friends for life - happy times win, lose or draw but on days like today when we lose a young person in a senseless incident is just unthinkable and hard for Kory's coaches and teammates, so we can't imagine what Kory's family are going through.

"We need to try and educate the younger generation about the dangers of carrying a knife and the devastation that it can cause.

"RIP Kory."

Several more tributes have also poured in for the teenager on social media.

One person said: "So sad. Our condolences go out to all of Kory's family and friends."

Another added: "This is so sad. Condolences to the family."

While a third said: "Heartbreaking."
