Five teens are battling serious injuries after a horror crash in East Kilbride.

We previously reported that 999 crews raced to Crookedshields Road in the town shortly before 9pm on Sunday, June 2, after being made aware of the smash.

Police say during the incident an 18-year-old man was driving a black Vauxhall Astra on Crookedshields Highway near its junction with Crookedshields Road when it appears the vehicle lost control and struck a tree.

However, crews safely removed the trapped casualty before they were taken to hospital by Air Ambulance.

Now, cops have said the 18-year-old driver and two other passengers - aged 17 and 18 - were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medics have described their conditions as serious.

A 16-year-old boy - who was another passenger in the vehicle - was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where hospital staff also described his condition as serious.

Meanwhile, another passenger in the car - a 15-year-old boy - was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where his condition has also been described as serious.

Now, road cops are appealing for information on the crash.

"I’d be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, saw the black Astra being driven, or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 3653 of June 2, 2024.”
