A busy road in Hamilton is set to close to allow 'major' works to take place this weekend.
South Lanarkshire Council has revealed carriageway repairs are set to get underway along the A72 Palace Grounds Road in the town.
The local authority said carriageway patching works will take place from the road's junctions with Motherwell Road Roundabout up to and including Muir Street Roundabout.
To minimise disruption, the work will be completed overnight from Sunday, June 9 until Thursday, June 13.
It will be carried out in four phases between 9pm each night and 6am the following morning, with the road being closed during the works.
While road users won't be able to access the area throughout the works, the council has said they will 'endeavour to maintain access' for businesses/residents/and people who work in the closed areas.
Colin Park, the head of the council’s Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: “We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of A723 within Hamilton Town Centre during the times indicated and that they plan their journey accordingly.
“If these dates change for any reason, signs will be used to notify you of the revised dates.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.”
