A Glasgow-based restaurant company has made a donation of over £1 million to a cancer charity.

Six Company, the group behind the popular Six by Nico chain of restaurants, made the generous donation to Beatson Cancer Charity after a highly successful inaugural Grand Ball.

The extravagant Hollywood-themed event took place on June 1 at the lavish Ingliston Estate and Country Club.

It was a glamorous and buzzing evening, entertaining 500 attendees with a drink reception, a three-course dinner, and both live and silent auctions.

The attendees were kept enthralled through the night thanks to the performance of a line-up of renowned stars, including TV presenters Danni Menzies (Channel 4's A Place in the Sun) and Phil MacHugh (BBC's Norwegian Fling), with a particularly special performance by Heather Small from M People.

The funds raised at the gala exceeded £210,000.

This, combined with Six Company's support through team events at their 16 restaurant locations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, as well as Glasgow's Beat 6 restaurant, have resulted in a total donation of £1,060,000 to date to Beatson Cancer Charity.

Beat 6 is a unique charity-backed establishment found at 149 Milngavie Road in Bearsden.

Opened in April 2023, the eatery directs 100 per cent of its profits to charity, while offering an innovative, transformative food experience with a monthly rotating set menu.

Patrons are encouraged to "dine to donate" and support the cause.

Glasgow Times:

CEO and founder of Six Company Nico Simeone said: "We are incredibly humbled and appreciative for having brought the Beat 6 to this stage, and we are overwhelmed by the support we have received in raising over £1 million to date.

"We look forward to continuing to aid and support Beatson Cancer Charity.

"Our efforts would not have been possible without the support of our communities and those attending on the night".

The funds raised by Beat 6 will support several projects, notably the development of a Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Service for patients with colorectal cancer peritoneal metastasis.

It will also fund a portable echo machine to conduct bedside echocardiograms, enhancing patient comfort.

Glasgow Times:

CEO of Beatson Cancer Charity Martin Cawley added: "To raise over £210,000 on the night and in doing so break the £1 million barrier is staggering.

"Quite simply, we could not do this without the support of so many people like Nico and his team."

Beat 6 can be found open for lunch and dinner from Thursday to Sunday at 149 Milngavie Rd, Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 3DY.
