East Dunbartonshire Council is inviting community groups to submit funding requests for local projects following a successful grant backing Caurnie Angling Club.
This club recently received funds for improvement plans around Antermony Loch on the outskirts of Milton of Campsie.
Local organisations can apply in the upcoming Community Grants Scheme which opens between July 1 and 26 for this round of funding.
The scheme offers two types of grants: one up to £5,000 and the other up to £10,000.
A group can apply for a total of £15,000 throughout the year.
The council seeks applications from groups that have a constitution, a bank account, are not for profit, and aim to improve the lives of East Dunbartonshire residents.
The grants can cover startup expenses, special projects, equipment, and salaries.
Secretary Brian Munro said: "Members of the club are grateful to the council for supporting our off-grid power project via the Community Grants Scheme. We would commend any group to consider it as a source of funding for viable projects which may need external support to make them happen. We were absolutely delighted."
Applicants are invited to attend a workshop at Auchinairn Community Centre on June 17 from 6 to 8pm, to learn how to meet the grant guidance and eligibility requirements, understand the application process, and join a supportive network.
Registration for the workshop should be done via email at communityplanning@eastdunbarton.gov.uk.
Should any group need additional help, community-focused individuals or groups that are unfamiliar with the application process can also get support from the council’s Community Planning team.
Contact can be made by emailing communityplanning@eastdunbarton.gov.uk or calling 0300 123 4510.
The applications are to be reviewed by the Grants Advisory Committee, which recommends award recipients to the Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board.
The board's members include representatives from the council, the Health and Social Care Partnership, Police Scotland, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, the Leisure and Culture Trust, and other public service organisations.
The board is expected to hold its next meeting at the end of September 2024.
After the meeting, applicants will be notified of their success.
To apply, applicant groups should visit www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/community-grants-scheme where the online form and eligibility criteria are available.
The deadline for the current funding round is noon on July 26.
