Police have taped off a street near Glasgow's Barras Market after a man has died.

Officers say they received a report of a man being found unresponsive in the Gallowgate area in the East End at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, June 12.

999 crews rushed to the scene, however, sadly the man was pronounced dead.

Currently, the force is treating the death as unexplained.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Pictures shared with the Glasgow Times from the scene show several ambulances and police are in the area.

Meanwhile, police have also taped off part of the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.50pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, police were called to a report of a man found unresponsive in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
