The founder of a well-known Glasgow restaurant has sadly died.

Chinatown Restaurant Glasgow - which is located on New City Road in the city's Cowcaddens area - took to social media to share the sad news on Wednesday, June 12.

In the post, they said the founder of the eatery - Mr Michael Wu - has passed away.

Michael started the restaurant back in the 1980s before retiring in 2016 - after that, he remained a 'friend and customer' of the eatery.

Announcing the sad news, the venue said: "Not a typical message we post on Facebook but we would like to share the sad news in the passing of Mr Michael Wu, founder of Glasgow Chinatown restaurant, and send our condolences to his family.

"Michael started the restaurant in the 80s before retiring in 2016.

"He since remained a friend and customer of this restaurant up till his passing after battling with illness.

"Michael’s efforts over the years also made this restaurant a pseudo-hub for the local Chinese community.

"He will be fondly missed and remembered. May he rest in peace."
