A dedicated Barras stallholder is retiring after an impressive 45 years at the market.

Raymond has had a stall at Glasgow's East End market since he learned the trade from his parents at just five years old.

He is known to customers for selling a range of household essentials as well as watches.

The organisers of the iconic city market have revealed that with Raymond's departure comes an opportunity for a new business to take over the space, which they say is in a 'prime spot'.

A spokesperson said: "After over 45 years at Barras Market, the one and only Raymond has finally decided to hang up his hat and retire!

"Raymond has been a fixture at the market since he was just 5 years old, learning the ropes from his parents. Over the decades, he's built up a loyal customer base thanks to his friendly personality, and reliable selection of watches, lighters, batteries, and other household essentials.

"While we're sad to see Raymond go, his retirement presents an amazing opportunity for someone else to step in and continue his legacy at our beloved Barras Market institution.

"The stall is located in a prime spot, has an established customer base, and comes with all of Raymond's hard-earned expertise. It's a turn-key operation that's ready for the right entrepreneur to take it on.

"If you or anyone you know is interested in taking over this business, reach out to the Barras Market team. It's a chance to be part of the fabric of our historic Glasgow landmark.

"We wish Raymond all the best in his retirement - he's earned it! And we can't wait to see what the future holds for this one-of-a-kind Barras Market opportunity."
