A CHARITY worker who raped a woman and was physically violent to two others has been jailed for six years.

Scott McDonald tormented the trio during a campaign of abuse spanning 15 years.

A judge said the 36-year-old possibly reckoned he was "invincible" as he went from one traumatised victim to the next.

McDonald was today sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

He had earlier been convicted of a total of 10 charges occurring between 2004 and 2019 in the city's Ruchazie as well as Airdrie and Bellshill.

The first woman's ordeal involved McDonald locking her in a flat and keeping hold of the keys.

The assaults included him dragging her by the hair, shoving her against a worktop and brandishing a knife.

The next woman was raped and also physically attacked. He hurt her by chucking a mobile phone at her head.

McDonald further made her life a misery by making horrible comments to this victim, controlled who she could see and contact, and threatened to torch her home.

The final victim was hounded and humiliated. McDonald lashed out at her by grabbing her by the hair, punching her and throwing boiling water at the frightened woman.

McDonald was guilty of threats and abuse as well as physically assaulting all three.

He was convicted of abducting two of them and raping one of the women.

His KC Ian Duguid today said: "Immediately prior to being remanded, he had been engaging in charity work for the homeless in the local community."

The defence advocate said, as part of that, McDonald had bought a double-decker bus to be used to help those on the streets.

It emerged McDonald had a criminal record stretching back to his teens including for violence.

Sentencing, Judge Desmond Leslie said: "These offences have made a lasting impact on your victims.

"It is quite clear previous lessons have not been learned.

"You perhaps thought you were invincible...that you could get through all this and maintain the same attitudes evident in your record and in these charges."

McDonald will also be supervised for a further two years on his release.

He was further banned from approaching any of the women for the next 10 years.
