The funeral of a 'cracking' Scottish boxer is to be held next week after he tragically died in a crash.

Andrew 'Andy' Tham was involved in a collision between his motorcycle and a car on the B8039 near Lenziemill Road in Cumbernauld on Thursday, May 30.  

After the crash, the 28-year-old Scottish Featherweight Champion was rushed to hospital where he sadly passed away.

Following his death, heartbroken pals paid tribute to the much-loved sportsman.

Fellow boxer George Stewart said: "I'm absolutely devastated to hear the news of Andy Tham passing.

"It was an absolute honour and a pleasure to share the ring with him two weeks ago, a true warrior.

"I have no words to describe this devastating news other than heartbreaking.

"My thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends."

Meanwhile, Newarthill Amateur Boxing Club said: "The club are deeply saddened by the passing of Scottish Featherweight Champion Andrew Tham.

"Andy was a cracking boxer who shared a ring with our own Dylan Arbuckle on numerous occasions in competition and sparring, both lads were stablemates under the St Andrews Sporting Club banner.

"Our sincere condolences go out to Andy’s family and friends as well as his club, Kilsyth Golden Gloves.

"Sleep tight wee man."

Now, Holy Cross in Croy - which is a Catholic Church - has announced Andy's funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 25, at 6.30pm.

Announcing the service on social media, the church said: "With sadness but with faith in Christ’s Victory for him, we announce the death of Andrew 'Andy' Jun Wai Tham [Balloch - Eastfield]. Funeral service on Tuesday, June 25 at 6.30pm.

"Reception here and then moved afterwards to the family residence that same evening, to remain there overnight.

"The 6.30pm service will be live-streamed courtesy of the Holy Cross stream team, visit YouTube or Facebook.

"There will also be a Service of Committal at Daldowie Crematorium on Wednesday at 2.45pm.

"Requiescat in pace."
