An actor charged with rape will now stand trial later this year.

Greggory Odjig, 46, is said to have carried out the sex attack on a woman at the Premier Suites Plus serviced apartments in Glasgow's Bath Street on May 16, 2021.

Prosecutors claim she was intoxicated and asleep or unconscious resulting in her being unable to consent.

Odjig - who has appeared in TV's Outlander and Fargo shows - faces a separate assault charge of punching her on the head to her injury.

He denies the allegations and had been due to stand trial this week at the High Court in Glasgow.

But, Judge Lord Fairley was told of a witness issue which led to prosecutors asking for the case to be postponed.

Odjig's KC, Tony Lenehan, initially opposed the request, stating the actor already had to borrow a significant sum of money to travel from his home in Canada to Scotland and arrange accommodation.

He added Odjig has been out of work and not earning in light of the accusations.

However, the case was eventually adjourned and Odjig will next appear for trial at Stirling in November.

Odjig remains on bail.
